Are you an eating disorder therapist and noticing more clients presenting with disordered eating and are unsure how to support them?
We are looking for Counsellors, Nutritionists, Eating Disorder Therapists or Health Professionals who are interested in developing key skills in working with Binge and Emotional Eating.
There is a great need for practitioners skilled in this area. Did you know that:
- Binge eating disorder affects three times the number of people diagnosed with anorexia and bulimia combined
- BED is seen among all genders, races, age groups and income levels
- Around 30% of people seeking weight loss treatments will meet the criteria for BED
- You don't have to be overweight to have BED and being overweight does not mean you have BED
- Less than 5% of those with a BED diagnosis report being diagnosed by Doctors or Eating Disorder Therapists, suggesting the prevalence may be much higher
Binge-eating disorder is an eating disorder in which you frequently consume unusually large amounts of food and feel unable to stop eating.
Almost everyone overeats on occasion, such as having seconds or thirds of a holiday meal. But for some people, excessive overeating that feels out of control and becomes a regular occurrence crosses the line to binge-eating disorder.
Behavioral and emotional signs and symptoms of binge-eating disorder include:
- Eating unusually large amounts of food in a specific amount of time, such as over a two-hour period
- Feeling that your eating behaviour is out of control
- Eating even when you're full or not hungry
- Rapidly eating during binge episodes
- Eating until you're uncomfortably full
- Frequently eating alone or in secret
- Feeling depressed, disgusted, ashamed, guilty or upset about your eating
- Frequently dieting, possibly without weight loss
- You may have clients that don't meet the criteria for BED but who still experience significant distress over their eating. This training will also support eating disorder therapists in working with serial dieters, emotional eaters and those that have a generally poor relationship with food.

Hi, I'm Claire!
I’ve been practising as a CBT Therapist for over ten years, but for the last four years I have specialised in disordered eating recovery.
I knew that I wanted to specialise in this niche and so undertook training as a Master practitioner with the National Centre for Eating Disorders (NCFED)
Having walked the path that many of my clients have, I have a deep understanding of the distress they are feeling about their relationship with food.
I work predominantly with women who are caught in an endless diet and binge cycle and whose worth is completely entangled with what they weigh.
It’s my mission to help women not only end their war with food but to gain greater self-acceptance, regardless of weight, shape or size.

"An excellent training course for anybody looking to work with clients presenting with disoriented eating. I have recently begun working with this client group and after Claire’s training I feel much more confident and equipped to help my clients."
Really enjoyed the training. Claire was knowledgeable and confident in the training. We received a lot of useful information and helpful links. It also helped me personally to explore my own issues with food. I would feel a lot more confident in dealing with clients with food issues with the support of other health professionals.
Really enjoyable course. Good pace, good informative material and leaves you feeling better equipped to deal with this client group.
As a student, there is much greater learning when others share their client experiences and I’m really grateful to everyone on the course for doing that and to you for encouraging people to share and also sharing your personal experiences. I really enjoyed this training and think your work is so important, thank you so much Claire.
I’ve learned about the difference between hunger and cravings, the importance of educating and dispelling myths around Binge eating and its perceived benefits & effects. I have learned about the HALT method and a way to support individuals with this issue in an effective compassionate manner. An excellent training by an engaging trainer.
Excellent, informative training. Claire was warm, friendly and professional and had obviously put a great deal of work into the creation of this workshop which she facilitated really well. I’d definitely recommend this workshop and have completed it feeling well prepared to more effectively support my counselling clients who may present with issues with binge eating.
Overall an excellent training course for anybody looking to work with clients presenting with disoriented eating. I have recently begun working with this client group and after Claire’s training I feel much more confident and equipped to help my clients. The binge eating course was also very helpful from a personal standpoint and highlighted some areas of my own eating script that require attention. I would recommend this training to anyone, delivered by a knowledgeable practitioner and extremely useful on both a professional and personal level. Looking forward to the next one Claire, thank you so much! 🙂
I have really enjoyed this course and would recommend it to anyone who needs more information around disordered eating. Claire delivers her knowledge in a relatable, innovative way. I am now so much better equipped to deal with this in session with clients and feel empowered to do so.
